Chicago River Stair
Project: Dock stair on the Chicago River
Location: Chicago, IL - 2013
Responsibilities: Under the supervision of Dan Miller, I functioned as the assistant project lead - measuring/drawing existing, consulting with structural engineers, creating construction and permit drawings, submitting for permit, doing construction administration and supervision, and management of contractor relationships.
Lessons Learned: The architect may need to ensure contractors communicate with each other if they don't do it themselves. Also, the Chicago MOPD is no joke.

There are worse places I've been on the ground with a measuring tape...
Drawings
Many options were explored as to the best way to access the lower level in such a tight space. Options for elevators and lifts were explored as well.
Dock
The dock itself had to be lowered and rebuilt at a height approachable by boat
Boat dock entrance
Done for an existing Chicago tour/ferry boat company, this new boat dock allows pedestrian access from Michigan Avenue
